Richard Carroll

Richard Carroll has produced the musicals Sweet Charity (Hayes Theatre Co, Sydney Opera House, Arts Centre Melbourne, Canberra Theatre Centre & Illawarra Performing Arts Centre); Miracle City (Hayes Theatre Co); and High Society (Hayes Theatre Co). Sweet Charity won three Helpmann Awards and three Sydney Theatre Awards, including Best Musical; Miracle City won two Sydney Theatre Awards the same year.

In 2016 he directed the Australian premiere of the musical Side Show at Hayes Theatre Co, as well as the cabaret shows Don’t Bother To Knock starring Helen Dallimore (also co-writer) and ¡Hispanic Attack! (also writer). He was Assistant Director on Violet (winner of three Sydney Theatre Awards, including Best Director and Best Independent Musical), High Society, and Everybody Loves Lucy. He co-wrote Everybody Loves Lucy, which toured Australia in 2015; and co-conceived the cabaret show Julie Madly Deeply (Australian tour, Canadian tour, UK national tour and West End). He also co-wrote and was Associate Producer of the 2010 documentary David Campbell On Broadway for STUDIO.

Cabaret and concert producing credits include An Evening with Megan Mullally (Sydney Theatre for Mardi Gras 2013, and The Forum Melbourne); Britney Spears: The Cabaret (Sydney and Melbourne seasons, and two national tours); Everybody Loves Lucy; Mario; Tom Sharah in It’s Raining Me and That 90’s Show; Julie Madly Deeply; Cabaret Whore; Simply Barbra; Gillian Cosgriff’s Waitressing, and other things I do well; When I Fall in Love: The Nat King Cole Story; Show Stoppers; Daniel Boys in So Close; ‘Mad Men’ star Bryan Batt in Batt on a Hot Tin Roof; and five national tours for David Campbell.

As Executive Producer: Freud’s Last Session (QPAC); Snow White: Winter Family Musical (State Theatre Sydney); and Diamonds Are For Trevor (State Theatre Sydney for Mardi Gras). As part of Luckiest Productions he worked on programming for the Adelaide Cabaret Festival 2009-11.

Richard is a board member of In The Pipeline (Arts) Ltd, which runs Hayes Theatre Co. He is also a member of the artistic assessment panel for New Musicals Australia, and the cabaret panel for the Helpmann Awards.

One Eyed Man Productions has produced the musicals Side Show and Calamity Jane, as well as live shows for artists such as Sarah-Louise Young (UK), Phil Scott & Blake Bowden, Helen Dallimore and Tom Sharah.
